Even though COVID has created some unique challenges for our traditional celebration, The Methodist Dallas Medical Center 2021 Dash for the Beads has been modified to address safety concerns caused by the pandemic. The 5K will be a virtual race, where runners may choose to run their own route, or run the traditional Dash route through Kessler Park any time between February 1 and February 14, 2021. Their results will be posted on the Dash website.

The 1M walk has been replaced by the Dash Mardi Gras People Parade, which will be held in coordination with this year’s Go Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade.  Rather than holding a traditional parade centralized on one street, this year’s event will travel through several Oak Cliff neighborhoods. Those participating in the Dash Mardi Gras People Parade will meet up at the Methodist Folsom Fitness area on W. Greenbriar Ln, Saturday, February 13 at 12:30 (masks required). The parade will include a “social distance” costume contest where participants will wear their wackiest idea for a costume that keeps them socially distant from each other. We’ll then proceed to walk through East Kessler so everyone can watch from the safety of their own yard. Register for the Dash Mardi Gras People Parade HERE.

Entry fees are $35 for the Fun Run parade-walk and costume contest, where all participants receive a t-shirt, a mask and racing bib. The 5K virtual run will be $40, where all participants get a t-shirt, a mask and a Dash commemorative medal.
