Due to the COVID pandemic, Dash for the Beads has made necessary changes to help protect participants. Our goal is to hold a safe event, while still promoting the incredible Oak Cliff community spirt we love.
For 2021, the 5K race will be a virtual event. Registered runners may choose to run their own route, or run the traditional Dash route through Kessler Park any time between February 1 and February 14, 2021. Results will be posted on the Dash website. The 10K race is cancelled for 2021. We hope it will return in 2022.
The 1M walk has been replaced by the Dash Mardi Gras People Parade, which will be held in coordination with this year’s Go Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade. Rather than holding a traditional parade centralized on one street, this year’s event will travel through several Oak Cliff neighborhoods. Those participating in the Dash Mardi Gras People Parade will meet up at the Methodist Folsom Fitness area on W. Greenbriar Ln, Saturday, February 13 at 12:30 (masks required). The parade will include a “social distance” costume contest where participants will wear their wackiest idea for a costume that keeps them socially distant from each other. We’ll then proceed to walk through East Kessler so everyone can watch from the safety of their own yard. Register for the Dash Mardi Gras People Parade HERE.
